1st Annual Big ASS BASS Tournament - Late May 2007

This was the very first year of the Big ASS BASS Fishing Tournament at Angler's Paradise in Libral Missouri. Team Browson Vs. Team Jurkbald.  While Kuta had fished the event site once, AssMaster Dave was the veteran.  Midway through the first day Team Jurkbald hadn't scored anything, were already bickering and Kuta had lost his favorite rod and reel within the first five minutes of competition.  It wasn't looking good for Team Jurkbald.  Team Browson already had twenty or twenty five in the boat by the time Jurkbald landed their first fish.  The first year was a two day tournament with five scoring catagories.  After the first day Jurkbald was down two - zero and had to have a big second day to win.

Day 2 - After employing the "you snore loud as hell and keep everyone up all night so at least we have the only well rested person" strategy, Team Jurkbald was tired and dragging ass the final day.  However despite all the odds stacked against them...DeezNutz bailed out team Jurkbald with the tournament's biggest fish mid way through the second day.  Fishing in the main channel in close proximity to Team Browson, the eventual champs hooked into a big one.  Originally thought to be a snag once it was identified Team Jurkbald sprang into action.  Kuta grabbed the net and DeezNutz knew he only had to get it near the boat.  It was a good fight but everyone knew if you got it within 5 feet of the boat it was over...WAS FRIGGIN AWESOME!!

Team Browson had the opportunity to come back and win with a good size Large Mouth Bass near the end of the day but the pressure was too much and Holmes let the "deal sealer" off the hook.

While Team Jurkbald won the weekend Team Browson killed in numbers.  Needless to say Team Browson was looking forward to a rematch and claimed the win to be a fluke.

This year was wrought with bad weather making fishing both difficult and uncomfortable at times.  The biggest fish was caught on the first day on a spinner near the boat in the "crappie" channel near the dock with the crappie hut.  While quantity was not entirely an issue, quality was.  While fishing was difficult the champions were able to meet the quote all three days.  While the third day was obviously the nail in the tournament coffin, Team Jurkbald had a pretty commanding lead heading into the final day.

Despite the commanding lead going into day 3 team Jurkbald left the door open due to excessive partying the night before.   Employing the "you keep them up partying and playing the "I can pick you up game" while I go to sleep" strategy, Team Browson snuck out under the cover of darkness after perfect execution of their plan.  With Team Jurkbald still sleeping Team Browson had the lake to themselves.  However despite the brilliant plan mother nature was on Team Jurkbald's side as it was cold, windy and down right miserable.  Team Browson picked the main channel where they were beat up by the wind and un able to cast or control their boat.  They spent more time battling the elements than fishing and were unable to fill their quote.

Team Jurkbald eventually woke up and went to where the wind had left them alone the previous day and was able to fill their daily quote in a couple of hours proving that 2007 was not a fluke.
